Context
Bebat is one of our longest running partners. Since 2015 they’ve trusted us with everything from motion projects and service design to digital platforms and deep-dive research into the complex world of battery collection, sorting, and recycling. We continue to work with them on a vast variety of tracks aimed at revolutionising the industry.

Service Designing a better customer experience
As Belgium’s leading battery organisation, one of Bebat’s many responsibilities is the collection of fees from participating companies who import & produce batteries. We worked together to streamline this process and create a better customer experience for everyone involved.
Through comprehensive service design we mapped this process out in detail, identifying relevant stakeholders and customer personas. Based on the results we then implemented a variety of changes across all levels.
Among other things we created infographics and explainer videos to increase understanding, updated their UX for an improved user journey, and revised their tone of voice with new email and communication templates.

A digital solution to battery collection
We’ve also helped Bebat with a variety of digital products, such as MyBebat – a web-based application for public and private organisations to manage their battery collection points and requests. These services were originally available through a call centre, but Bebat wanted to offer their clients 24-hour access, greater functionality, and a more satisfying experience.
MyBebat also included a webshop reward system for incentivising battery collection at schools across the country, a theme which would lead us to many more projects together.

One of Bebat’s most exciting initiatives is Villa Pila – a visitor centre dedicated to educating children on everything battery-related. Built around their sorting facility in Tienen, the tour is a huge success, booked full every day of the year by eager classes of children. We first got involved with Villa Pila to update the branding and create a more storytelling-driven experience site for booking tours and building anticipation. This also improved the user-flow of Bebat employees involved in the tours.

We’re now exploring a restructuring of the tour itself, to include more characters, plot, and interactivity than ever before. This, along with many other collaborations, has allowed us to offer a complete suite of services to Bebat, from strategy and concepts to digital products and user-tests to 3D animations and the design of physical installations.

With that in mind, we created a comprehensive brand platform to consolidate all the branding, icons, illustrations, copy, photography, animation, yearly reports, etc. that we’ve created over the years. This all-inclusive platform ensures consistency across Bebat’s multitude of touchpoints and is an invaluable asset for all future projects.
