Enhancing customer intimacy through digital experience
North Sea Port
Context
North Sea Port brings together the harbours of Ghent, Terneuzen and Vlissingen. It is one of the larger ports in Europe, with a strong position in logistics, industry and public infrastructure. Their strategic ambition is to stay close to every stakeholder, but their previous digital presence no longer reflected that reality. We designed a new platform that brings this vision to life through clear structure, tailored content and purposeful design.

Shaping digital strategy together
North Sea Port works with a wide mix of users. Businesses, skippers, citizens and policy makers all interact with the organisation in different ways. What they have in common is an expectation of clarity and responsiveness.
Through a series of collaborative workshops, we helped define their strategic priorities and translated them into a clear digital direction. Together, we explored how their broader goals could take shape on the website, both structurally and in tone of voice.

Content structure that reflects user intent
From that shared vision, we redesigned the platform from the inside out. We replaced internal content logic with a navigation model based on real user goals. The result is a platform where people find what they need more quickly, with focused pages that are easier to read and maintain.
We worked closely with the North Sea Port team to align content priorities, revise key messages and define an editorial tone that feels both professional and open. Their story is now clearer, more structured and easier to update over time.

As part of this effort, we also developed a custom tariff simulator. It gives potential customers a transparent way to estimate fees based on actual parameters. This tool improves the user experience and helps North Sea Port manage expectations more honestly.
To improve operational communication, we created a system for faster publication of nautical service messages. These updates are now more visible, easier to manage and more useful for the teams that rely on them.

A platform that makes customer intimacy feel real
The new platform brings consistency to a once fragmented experience. Businesses now find relevant sector information and investment insights. Skippers access essential tools and service updates in fewer steps. Citizens and public stakeholders stay informed about infrastructure, sustainability and regional impact.
We created custom 3D illustrations to help visualise port infrastructure in an intuitive way. Our team also handled the full photography production, including concept, planning and on-location shoots. The result is a rich visual layer that blends lifestyle, portrait and documentary photography to capture the port’s people, rhythm and environment in a natural and authentic way.

Under the hood, the platform runs on Drupal, supported by a modular component system that gives editors full flexibility. Integrations with their digital asset management software and recruiting platform make content and vacancy management seamless for the internal team.
North Sea Port already operated with proximity and care. The new platform turns that mindset into a tangible experience, helping them stay connected to every audience they serve clearly, consistently and with purpose.
